Northern Christmas Meet – Seahouses – 26thto 30thNovember 2018
Contrary to rumour we do celebrate Christmas ‘Up North’, but admittedly not yet with our Murvi friends!
The time has come to make amends and we believe we have found a suitable venue, Seafield Caravan Park, Seahouses which some of us already know. It is not quite central to Northern England but we think the bit of extra travelling will be worthwhile and that our Scottish friends will also see it as being reasonably accessible.
The site has 24 concrete hardstandings all with hookup and most with an electric light and water. The fee is £27 per unit per night but for bookings, Sunday to Thursday, of 3 nights or more, one night is free.
But the site fee also includes unlimited admission to the onsite Ocean Club, (a 20 metre leisure pool - 8.00 am to 9.00 pm - spa, steam room, sauna, gym and fitness room - all impeccably maintained). The Ocean Club also includes a licensed café (8.00 am to 9.00 pm) serving breakfasts, drinks, snacks, pizzas and light meals. There is also free site wifi, heated toilets and showers and laundry and dish washing facilities. Fitness classes may also be available at additional cost.
Seahouses itself is less than 5 minutes away. There is a decent hotel for our Christmas meal, several pubs and restaurants, including, when I was last there, Indian and Fish and Chips. There are various shops, a bank and a Coop supermarket.
Coastal buses pass through Seahouses, making an easy outward or return route for walking, but also enabling travel as far as Berwick or the delightful town of Alnwick. Holy Island is not far away.
Discussing plans with Karin we hope to avoid a clash with the December Meets ‘down South’. Some are already considering the option of two Christmas
dinners! So we are looking at 4 nights, (Monday to Friday) 26th– 30thNovember 2018. You could extend or reduce this but we are thinking of organising the Christmas meal for Thursday 29thNovember.
Reservations are made directly with Seafield Caravan Park (01665 720628) You can choose your pitch and I suggest we book, in turn, pitches 4 to 8 then 13 upwards so that we are together and on the more sheltered area. Bookings are taken with full payment in advance and I suggest making bookings by phone, not online, to ensure the free night is provided (do ask!) and your MURVI interest is recorded. All booking information can be found on the website www.seafieldpark.co.uk
Even in November the site will be popular so early booking is recommended. Please mention MURVI when you book and let me know of your booking, so that I can keep in contact with everyone regarding any activities, the Christmas meal or other arrangements.

(So Why Seahouses? Well Christine introduced me to the Northumberland coast some 30 years ago, it having been a favourite family haunt from her childhood. The wide open beach for the walk to Bamburgh and its castle is, for many, an absolute must, even in November, and there are other lovely coastal walks directly from Seahouses. Then 12 years ago we discovered Seafield Caravan Park and are now regular visitors. The local community are ever friendly and they are certain to chat to you in the leisure centre. My first thought, needless to say, was of a Yorkshire venue, but then Murvi friend, Ingrid, mentioned Seahouses! It may not suit everyone but if you feel like venturing North and soaking up the environment whilst staying on a site with excellent facilities – then we look forward to meeting you there!)
Yes, I accept, a rather elaborate flyer! Just put it down to many fond memories, enthusiasm for the Northumberland Coast and our excitement over a proposed Meet at Seahouses!
