Murvi Christmas Lunch

Wednesday 13th December 2017

New Venue!

Many thanks for expressing an interest in attending the Christmas Lunch.   Because of some changes at Woodbury Golf Club which could have an impact on eating there, we will be using an alternative venue at nearby Exmouth.   The new venue, the Grove, is on the seafront at Exmouth.   We will still have private use of a first floor dining room, this time with a balcony and sea views.  John Day, who is once again helping to organise the event, says that the Grove has recently been taken over by an enthusiastic team and John’s recent sampling of their wares was very satisfactory.  http://www.groveexmouth.co.uk/

The event will be from 12.30 noon to 3.30 p.m.  The price will be £23.50 per person for a traditional three-course Christmas lunch (a two-course option was not offered).  The price includes a tip.  A vegetarian option will be available.  The manager has explained that they have a system whereby we will send out a menu selection sheet for you to complete and return. This will then be used to print place cards.

The nearest car parking and some daytime motorhome parking is situated on sea front which starts about 50 yards from the Grove. This costs £2.30 for 3 hrs.  Many motorhomes park overnight at Orcombe Point at the far end of the beach (about 1.5 miles from the Grove).  Further details of car parks can be found at https://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/carpark/camperdown_terrace/ex8/exmouth.  There is a campsite near Exmouth https://www.stjohnsfarm.co.uk which is open in December.

There is also a very good new Premier Inn on the seafront about 5/10 minutes walk from the GroveFor those wishing to stay longer at Exmouth, John has recommended a free Thursday Night Jazz club at Ocean Bowling Alley.  A Tapas restaurant is on the 1st floor of this complex.  See https://www.oceanexmouth.co.uk/what-s-on
