Andrew and I have booked to go to Port Eliot Festival. We have never been before so don’t really know what to expect, but I have been told that it is an ‘upmarket festival’, not entirely a music festival, although it of course has music, but amongst many other things.
“Set in 6,000 acres of beautiful parkland and ancient woodland, with beautiful views of the house and estuary.
It is like falling from the sky into a magic garden where you will be constantly surprised and delighted. Where you can drink, dance, discuss, dress up, camp, explore, get lost, fall asleep under the stars and wake to the ringing of church bells.
Port Eliot is a festival unlike any other …”
… so say Peregrine and Cathy St. Germans, “who invite you to their little corner of Cornwall to celebrate words, music, imagination, ideas, nature, food, fashion, flowers, laughter, exploration, fun and all that is good in the world!”
This is a taster of the information I have gleaned, but there is a website complete with pictures and a film clip of the 2015 event, where you can study it for yourself – porteliotfestival.com.
… Boutique camping, Airstreams, Yurtel (luxury yurts), Tipis …. Foraging, canoeing, swimming, garden, star-gazing, surfing.
… Pamper Parlour offering wet shaves, hair dryers and a make-up artist!
Showers in the camping field – cost £2. Toilet facilites – plus Luxury toilet experience, with waterless, energy-generating toilet system ‘Loowatt’ – around £30 for a Loowatt adult wrist band!
Many stages and venues. Music, yoga, food, dance, workshops, artists, wellbeing, house and church tours. and more…
PRICES: .. are all online, but just to give you an idea:-
Adult weekend (tier 3) ticket £172.50. (There are also day tickets.)
Campervan/caravan £64.
Electric hook-up £44 – SOLD OUT sometime ago.
Campervanners
Since information for campervanners on their website is scant to non-existent, I have contacted them and gained us this information:
> Non hook up pitches are not marked out, they are just parked up in the order they arrive. Located in the rear field in the spare space after the hook ups.
> There are 2 standpipes within the live-in vehicle area.
> We provide a flat tank for waste water and toilet waste which is situated by the toilet block in the live-in vehicle field.
Would be nice to see some other Murvilovers there.
