We will be staying at Skysea (formerly Carreglwyd) campsite, Port Eynon, SA3 1NN https://www.porteynon.com/
The site is right on the shoreline, with spectacular views over Port Eynon Bay, open scrubland, sand dunes and acres of sandy beach close at hand. See the yellow arrow on the OS map. The owner has agreed to heat the services block for us. The well drained grass pitches all have electricity and most are reasonably level and close to service roads. Nevertheless, levelling blocks are recommended. I have made a booking for 35 vans. The rate will be £20 per night including electricity. There will be no further charge for dogs plus no deposit is required. There is a small shop on site.
Bus servicesrun from Rhosilli and Swansea. The service from Rhosilli to Port Eynon usually involves a change at Scurlage. There is no Sunday service between Scurlage and Port Eynon. The Port Eynon bus stop is right outside the site. Winter timetables will be forwarded when available. N.A.T. Group Welsh services phone: 0800 464 0000.
Walks– Port Eynon to Rhosilli -9Km took us some 3hours. We did not walk back via the inland route because the path runs mainly through fields, some being populated with livestock. We caught the bus (summer service), £2.10 each, got us to Scurlage, then rather than wait an hour for the connection, we took a footpath (1.25 hrs) through the fields back to the site. A shorter 6Km walk is available to Oxwich along the coastal path.
Rhosilli:A level walk out to the coastguard station to see Worm’s Head, one of the most photographed views in the world. National Trust carpark (remember your card), plus a visitor centre and shop. Incidentally, it is listed on park4night.comas a campervan aire. Worms Head hotel has a good bar - food available. The Bay Bistro 50 metres up the road is more downmarket.
Adventurous option: Tides are perfect for a low tide scramble over the causeway rocks on to the world famous Worms Head. Saturday 9thlow water is at 12.30. You are safe 3 hours either side of low water. The rocks can be slippery and the track takes you over a natural rock arch with the sea thundering away below. Not a walk for the faint hearted, but the views are breathtaking.
Terrestial tv reception is excellent but the only mobile signal available on site is from 3 and EE. Wifi is available through a third party provider and costs around £7 for a weekend.The Ship Inn has free WiFi.
The Ship Inn, Port Eynon, is a five minute stroll from the site. We will be having a slideshow there on the Sunday evening to give people the opportunity of showing their 10 best photos from the year’s travels.
I have arranged a three course Saturday dinner for us at the Ship Inn for no more than £20 per person, payable on the night. See attachment for menu. Please let me have your choices when you book.
