At Royal International Pavilion
Abbey Road, Llangollen Denbighshire LL20 8SW
Roger Pepper would like to know who may be interested in this meet, though there is no need to confirm and pay until 2025. He writes:
In 2021 we spent a very pleasant few days on a campsite just outside Llangollen, famous for its International Music Eisteddfod held every July. Llangollen is beautifully situated in the Dee Valley about 30 miles along the A5 beyond Shrewsbury (see attached map). The Eisteddfod is held in the modern Royal International Pavilion which is located close to the centre of the town and between the River Dee and LLangollen Canal. While we were there, I noticed a motorhome rally on a grassed area adjacent to the pavilion and thought it would be ideal for the Murvi Club to visit.
I have now booked with the Pavilion for the club to hold a rally there next year between Tuesday 12th and Saturday 16th August 2025, a time when I believe many of us won’t be away elsewhere. The charge will be £19 per unit per night including electric hook-up, water, waste disposal and the use of an outside toilet block. I hope to arrange a meal for us in the Pavilion on one of the evenings.
There are plenty of walking opportunities and other attractions in the area including:
The world heritage listed Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which carries the Llangollen Canal over the River Dee is a 4.5 mile walk along the canal or boat trips are available from Llangollen with a return by coach.
A walk of under 2 miles along the canal in the other direction leads to the Horse Shoe Falls, a weir created by Thomas Telford to provide water for the canal. The nearby Chain Bridge Hotel is available for refreshments.
A 1.5 mile uphill walk leads to the hilltop ruins of Dinas Bran castle with spectacular views of the surround area.
A 10 mile heritage railway runs along the Dee valley from LLangollen to Corwen with several stops on the way.
I will take firm bookings early next year using the Club’s system, but it would be of help to me to get some idea of the number of vans that will be attending.
If you are likely to be there, could you email me on roger.pepper@btinternet.com.
