At Kirkcudbright and Portpatrick

Dumfries and Galloway, southern Scotland

19th to 25th June 2025,  5/6 nights.

We head north of the border in June 2025 where we hope you will join us for a MURVI meet at two separate locations, Kirkcudbright and Portpatrick.

The suggested route between these joint venues follows the scenic coastal 300 route

which links Portpatrick to  “ the UK’s  best kept secret” the Mull of Galloway.

You may even contemplate continuing your travels on the 2 hour ferry  from  Cairnryan, just north of Portpatrick, to Larne or Belfast and visit the beautiful Northern Ireland coastline.

All in all,  there’s abundant opportunity for a  wee adventure !

Kirkcudbright

Arrive Thursday 19th June to leave Sunday 22nd June . 3 nights.

We have reserved 12 pitches at Silvercraigs community-run campsite which overlooks the town, a 5 min walk away. We may be able to increase numbers depending on demand and availability.

Hardstanding with electric £25 .

Kirkcudbright is a small, compact town on the River Dee and a busy fishing port full of interest and old world charm. A Dark Sky planetarium, museum and the Dark Art distillery (gin shop) add to a good variety of independent shops and takeaways. It is also known as the ‘artist’s town’ and includes several galleries.

There is a good mix of pubs and restaurants including a pop-up fish bar the ‘Skippers Scran van’ which serves hot, fresh, delicious sea food on the quay where you can sit and eat while admiring the harbour.

Buses run to Castle Douglas and the nearby Threave estate (NT) is a must. This is a splendid day out with a castle ruin in the wetlands nearby the Osprey viewing station. Estate footpaths take you on a 1 mile stroll across to the house and gardens should you wish to walk between the two. The gardens, maintained by Royal Horticultural Society students, are an absolute delight along with the terraced cafe and shop.

Finally it is, so they claim , midge free!

Portpatrick.

Arrive Sunday 22nd June to leave Wednesday 25th June. 3 nights.

The venue is the Castle Bay Holiday and Residential Park .

Book individually, see below.

Portpatrick a small, picturesque village port has a few shops and several hotels for eating and drinking. The village is just over half a mile from the campsite along coastal paths, one with scenic views and steps, the other no views, no steps !

The cliff top touring pitches overlook the ruins of Dunskey castle and the Irish Sea, where on a clear day you can just make out the Irish coastline.

There are good scenic, coastal walks and several Gardens and Glen walks to visit.

Buses go to Stranraer 7 miles away.
