At Swanage and Wareham Rugby Club,
Bestwall Road, Wareham
I’ve arranged a meet for 4 nights at Wareham Rugby Club on the Isle of Purbeck. It’s about 15 minutes walk into the attractive Wareham town centre and bus stops.
There’s a Co-op and a Sainsburys in the attractive Saxon town, there are the remains of the Saxon walls to walk round, a small chapel near to the northern edge and an attractive church in the town, near to the River Frome from where you can take boat trips into Poole Harbour. The town museum is in the main square. There is Arne RSPB site a few miles away. It has parking for 61 vehicles but probably not so many motorhomes! There are buses from Wareham to Arne, but only on Wednesdays.
There are many cycle paths over the heathland so bring your bikes with you and of course the coast path in the area is wonderful.
Buses leave the town centre towards Swanage and Poole regularly and also to Lulworth Cove.
Swanage has a steam railway with the trains leaving from Norden, just north of Corfe Castle, or take the bus the Corfe Castle, enjoy the ruined castle (NT) and take the train from Corfe Castle station.
The facilities on the Rugby Club are basic, including fresh water, toilet emptying so there is the opportunity to use your on board facilities!
Fees £13 per night
This event is being organised by Heather Gould.
