At Orford Car Park
Orford Suffolk IP12 2NU
New Orford Town Trust have agreed to allow up to 12 Murvi Campervans to use the town car park from Friday 16th Oct to Monday 19th October 2015.
We have made a provisional booking at the ‘Jolly Sailor’ on the Sat evening and have booked the National Trust to arrange a special visit to the Orford Ness site on the Sunday morning.
The charge for 24 hours is £10. We shall arrange a separate area like we did in 2012. Water is available in the car park a hose pipe is required. Empting toilets is slightly awkward as care has to be taken to ensure the toilets are not blocked.
We have made a provisional booking at the ‘Jolly Sailor’ on the Sat evening. The ‘Jolly’ is now under new management and the food, beer and service is very good. They will have a menu available in September and will ask those attending to make a choice before the weekend. The ‘Jolly’ is 100 metres from our parking place.
We have booked the National Trust to arrange a special visit to the Orford Ness site, on the Sunday morning, including a special visit to the ‘Pagoda’ buildings which are not normally open to the public. Jacquie Attwood, of the N.T. has booked us as follows:
“The prices for a 3 hour tour on Sunday morning 18th October are:
Walking tour Member of NT £13.00 Non member £18.00
Trailer bus Member of NT £16.00 Non Member £21.00 The trailer is helpful to those of us who feel a bit elderly.
I have told Glen that you wish to see a pagoda and we hope that local bird ringers and counters will be available to explain the delights of this important site. I will need to know numbers of those wishing to take part on this unique opportunity to visit the Pagodas where nuclear bomb triggers were tested.”
Please email Karin Sumption if you wish to book for this. If we get more than twelve members wishing to attend we will keep a reserve list. Karin's email is karin@sumption.me.uk
