We headed for the market in La Alberca, a medieval town in the hills, 70km SW of Salamanca. A lovely drive through hills, with people collecting chestnuts by the roadside and the trees looking Autumnal. The town was very quaint and ancient, stalls in old market square selling honey and turron etc, we bought some honey and nut turron….yummy, chestnuts to cook and giant dried beans. We then sat in the sunshine and had coffee, whilst the town pig entertained the tourists!! It was reatively quiet being November, it might get very touristy in the summer months.
There is a parking area which allows 3 nights stopover in a beautiful location overlooking forests with plenty of signed walks.
